For 24 years working in South India, WEP has enabled young women from under\-resourced communities to realize their full economic and social potential through LAMP Academy. We are executing a 2026\-2028 Strategic Plan to scale across India and globally.
JOB SUMMARY
Women's Education Project is seeking an experienced Fractional Chief Financial Officer to provide strategic financial leadership on a part\-time consulting basis. This is a mission\-driven opportunity for an experienced finance professional (a retired CFO, a senior consultant seeking meaningful part\-time work) who wants to contribute real expertise at a pivotal moment in WEP's growth.
The Fractional CFO will serve as a key thought partner to the Founder and Executive Director, bringing financial clarity, strategic insight, and sound governance to an organization that is building for scale.
DUTIES
Financial Strategy and Planning
- Develop and maintain annual budgets aligned with WEP's 2026\-2028 Strategic Plan
Reporting and Review
- Attend monthly meetings with the Executive Director to review income and expenses against budget
- Prepare clear monthly financial reports for leadership and flag cash flow risks proactively
Compliance and Governance
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and US nonprofit accounting standards
- Support annual audit preparation and maintain appropriate financial policies and internal controls
Grant and Program Finance
- Support budget development for grant applications and funder reports
- Track restricted and unrestricted funds and ensure accurate allocation across programs
Strategic Support
- Serve as a thought partner to the Executive Director on financial sustainability and organizational growth
- Advise on the financial implications of strategic decisions and new partnerships as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- CPA or equivalent financial qualification preferred
- Demonstrated experience in nonprofit financial management, ideally with international or India\-based organizations
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
- Familiarity with US nonprofit compliance, grant financial management, and restricted fund accounting
- Experience building financial models and forecasts for scaling organizations
- Proficiency with financial software and reporting tools such as QuickBooks or equivalent platforms
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and communicate findings clearly to diverse audiences
- Excellent communication skills — able to translate financial complexity for non\-financial stakeholders
- Commitment to WEP's mission and values
- Prior fractional, consulting, or part\-time CFO experience a plus
Pay: $75\.00 \- $80\.00 per hour
