Company
We are an established restaurant and hospitality operator based in the heart of the Fulton Market neighborhood in Chicago, about one block from the Morgan transit stop. The operation has five business units: 1\) a restaurant; 2\) fast\-casual restaurant; 3\) a private event space; 4\) a live music club; and 5\) a coffee concept. The business is already a successful operation, with 6 million in gross annual revenue growing to 10 million and was recently acquired by a well\-capitalized private equity investor with plans for further growth. The company’s CEO is a prominent Chicago hospitality veteran who formerly served as an executive with several well\-known restaurant and entertainment operators.
Position (Fractional/Part Time)
This part\-time role (approximately 20 hours per week, typically remote) reports to the Chief Executive Officer and supports the day\-to\-day accounting operations of the company and each of its five business units, with a primary focus on accounts payable and bank reconciliations. Specific responsibilities include:
● Process accounts payable: enter vendor bills, code invoices to the appropriate GL accounts, and schedule and execute payments.
● Assist with the preparation of financial statements for each entity monthly.
● Perform daily cash management activities and bank reconciliations.
● Verify daily sales summaries from the Toast POS system for accuracy and post them to QuickBooks Online.
● Track and reconcile event deposits for the wedding and private\-event operations, ensuring that balances in Tripleseat agree to the customer deposit liability account on the balance sheet and to related bank activity. (This is a critical function of the role.)
● Prepare and post monthly accrual entries as part of the month\-end close.
● Apply the company’s fixed asset capitalization policy in accordance with GAAP when coding invoices and maintaining the fixed asset sub\-ledger.
● Partner with Operations to ensure accurate information is entered into the accounting system.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field is strongly preferred.
● Minimum of 3 years overall accounting/finance experience, preferably in a restaurant/hospitality setting.
● Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and the Toast POS system is required. Experience with Tripleseat (or a similar event management platform) strongly preferred. Working knowledge of A/P workflows, bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and GAAP fixed asset capitalization rules.
● Able to work independently with minimal day\-to\-day supervision.
● Must be able to work on\-site in an office environment.
Pay: $40\.00 \- $50\.00 per hour
