About This Role
Job Overview
We are seeking a strategic and disciplined Fractional Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead and safeguard the technological foundation of our organization on a part-time basis. This role is focused on infrastructure integrity, security, and auditability, rather than rapid feature development.
As Fractional CTO, you will serve as the technical authority ensuring that Gutcheck’s platform is secure, scalable, compliant, and institution-ready. You will work closely with senior leadership to align technology decisions with long-term business objectives, institutional requirements, and risk controls. Your expertise will help ensure the platform can withstand procurement scrutiny, technical diligence, and regulated operating environments.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enforce a clear technology and infrastructure strategy aligned with institutional, regulatory, and business requirements
- Oversee the design, deployment, and governance of cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (Firebase, Cloud Functions, Firestore, CI/CD)
- Ensure systems are built for auditability, security, uptime, and long-term scalability, not short-term velocity
- Establish and enforce data integrity standards, including schema enforcement, versioning, and immutable decision logs
- Implement security, access control, logging, and monitoring practices appropriate for compliance-sensitive environments
- Support procurement- and MSA-driven requirements such as SLAs, audit trails, and governance documentation
- Provide architectural guidance and technical oversight to engineers and external contractors
- Review system-level changes to prevent technical shortcuts that introduce long-term risk
- Monitor emerging best practices in cloud architecture, security, and infrastructure governance to maintain platform resilience and defensibility
Skills & Qualifications
- Google Professional Cloud Architect certification (Strongly Preferred)
- Extensive experience in cloud architecture and data-intensive systems, with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform
- Strong understanding of serverless architectures, schema design, data integrity, and system observability
- Proven experience building or governing secure, scalable platforms in regulated or compliance-sensitive environments
- Solid knowledge of security best practices, access control models, logging, monitoring, and incident response
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in early-stage, ambiguous environments while maintaining architectural discipline
- Strong bias toward documentation, explicit assumptions, and durable system design over speed
Preferred Experience
- Experience with fintech, risk, credit, analytics, or infrastructure platforms
- Background in API-first products or platform-as-infrastructure models
- Prior exposure to enterprise SaaS, public sector, or institutional software environments
- Experience collaborating closely with data scientists, product leaders, and non-technical stakeholders
