About This Role

Role Description

We are seeking a Fractional Chief AI Officer (CAIO) to design, build, and lead the AI foundation of our platform from the ground up.

This is not a strategy\-only role. You will be deeply hands\-on—rapidly shipping AI\-powered prototypes, building agentic systems, and turning ideas into real, user\-facing products.

You will play a critical dual role:

  • Builder — architect and execute AI systems, prototypes, and integrations that directly drive user value
  • Leader \& Advisor — define our AI vision, guide decision\-making, and act as a trusted partner in our AI transformation journey

This is an early, high\-impact role with a clear path to becoming a full\-time Chief AI Officer as the company scales.

What You’ll Do

  • Define AI architecture, tooling decisions, and long\-term roadmap
  • Partner closely with founders on product strategy and platform evolution
  • Rapidly design and deploy AI\-powered prototypes (days to weeks, not months)
  • Build and orchestrate agentic workflows using LLMs and automation frameworks
  • Implement integrations using MCP (Model Context Protocol), APIs, and workflow automation platforms
  • Translate ambiguous ideas into functional, scalable AI experiences
  • Continuously experiment, iterate, and optimize for user growth and engagement
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on AI capabilities, risks, and opportunities

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in AI/ML concepts (LLMs, embeddings, retrieval systems, fine\-tuning, evaluation)
  • Proven track record of building and deploying AI\-powered products or systems
  • Hands\-on experience with:
  • LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, open\-source models)
  • Agentic frameworks and orchestration tools
  • API integrations and distributed system design
  • Workflow automation platforms (e.g., Zapier, Make, n8n, or similar)
  • Ability to move from idea → prototype → production with speed
  • Strong problem\-solving skills with a bias toward execution
  • Comfortable operating independently in a fast\-moving, ambiguous environment

Preferred Background

  • Experience in healthcare, digital health, or health tech platforms
  • Prior startup or founder experience
  • Experience scaling AI systems into production environments
  • Familiarity with data pipelines, evaluation frameworks, and model performance optimization
