We are seeking a high‑impact Construction Controller to lead all financial, accounting, and control functions for a rapidly growing General Contractor based in beautiful Columbia, Missouri — a thriving regional hub known for its strong economy, university influence, and expanding market.

Columbia is home to the largest university in the state with a charming old town with restaurants and entertainment resources. It is also an outdoor haven of activities, and provides nearby access to major cities and airports.

This role is ideal for a senior construction finance professional who combines strategic insight with hands‑on operational expertise to support disciplined growth and long‑term enterprise value creation.

Reporting directly to the President and operating from the company’s corporate office, the Construction Controller will serve as a trusted advisor on financial performance, risk management, and operational decision‑making across the construction platform.

Our services include general contracting, construction management, and design‑build delivery for commercial and light industrial projects throughout Missouri and surrounding states.

Core Responsibilities

• Direct all financial and accounting activities, including forecasting, budgeting, cash management, banking relationships, insurance programs, audits, tax compliance, and internal controls
• Partner with executive leadership to align financial strategy with operational objectives and company expansion plans
• Lead, coach, and develop accounting and finance professionals while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and best‑practice execution
• Collaborate closely with project teams, clients, and external partners to support contract administration, cost control, and financial performance on large‑scale construction projects
• Drive the implementation and optimization of financial systems and reporting tools that enable timely, data‑driven insights

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience within the construction industry — mandatory
• Demonstrated tenure with a reputable construction organization (General Contractor, Construction Manager, EPC, Design‑Build, Civil, Specialty Contractor or Manufacturing firm)
• Proven leadership in financial operations, controls, and team development
• Strong command of strategic planning, budgeting, audit and tax processes, and ERP/accounting platforms
• Effective communicator with strong analytical judgment and executive presence
• Open to experienced Controllers, Senior Controllers, or Vice Presidents of Finance ready to step into a top financial leadership role.

Pay: $200,000\.00 \- $250,000\.00 per year
