Interim Sr. Director of Mission Advancement

About This Role

Position Summary: The Interim Sr. Director of Mission Advancement is a senior leadership role responsible for advancing CASA’s mission through strategic fundraising, donor engagement, and communications. This position leads all resource development efforts, including major gifts, capital campaigns, grants, and donor stewardship, while strengthening CASA’s visibility and impact through strategic communications.

The Interim Sr. Director works closely with the Chief Financial Officer, CEO, and senior leadership team to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies that support CASA’s strategic priorities and long\-term sustainability.

### Key Responsibilities

### Strategic Fundraising \& Resource Development

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of CASA’s comprehensive fundraising program, including community and private sector support.
  • Partner with senior leadership to establish and achieve annual fundraising goals (unrestricted, capital, and program\-restricted).
  • Develop and execute an annual Resource Development Plan with clearly defined KPIs for donor acquisition, growth, and retention.
  • Drive year\-over\-year growth in philanthropic revenue.
  • Design and lead capital campaigns and major gift initiatives, particularly those supporting housing development.
  • Oversee major gifts strategy, increasing gifts of $25,000 and above.
  • Build and manage a structured donor pipeline from entry\-level to major donors.
  • Engage the CEO and leadership team in high\-impact fundraising activities.
  • Collaborate across teams to track performance metrics and evaluate fundraising effectiveness.
  • Develop and manage the Resource Development department budget.

#### Donor Cultivation \& Stewardship

  • Develop and implement innovative strategies to grow and sustain philanthropic support.
  • Strengthen donor relationships through tailored cultivation and engagement strategies.
  • Ensure timely, meaningful, and impact\-driven stewardship of all gifts.
  • Implement best practices aligned with theDonor Bill of Rights.
  • Enhance donor engagement by understanding donor motivations, interests, and giving capacity.
  • Oversee timely submission of grant applications and reports.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine strategies to improve donor engagement and retention.
  • Foster a strong culture of philanthropy across the organization and Board.

#### Prospect Development \& Solicitation

  • Develop targeted strategies to acquire new donors and increase giving levels.
  • Partner with staff and volunteers to identify and cultivate prospective donors and sponsors.
  • Engage Board members in fundraising efforts and relationship building.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify high\-capacity donors.
  • Represent CASA through public speaking engagements and presentations to diverse audiences.

#### Leadership \& Management

  • Serve as a key member of CASA’s senior leadership team.
  • Present fundraising progress and strategic initiatives at Board meetings.
  • Participate in strategic planning and organizational initiatives.
  • Lead capital campaign committees and multi\-year fundraising efforts.
  • Supervise and support Resource Development staff, including conducting annual performance evaluations and providing ongoing coaching.

### Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Performance will be evaluated annually based on:

  • Total funds raised vs. annual goals
  • New donor acquisition and retention rates
  • Growth in major gifts ($25,000\+)
  • Capital campaign progress
  • Donor distribution across giving levels
  • Average gift size
  • Grant submissions and success rate
  • Communications and engagement analytics (website, social media, campaigns)
  • Strength of internal collaboration and cross\-functional partnerships

### Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Associate Director of Mission Advancement
  • Donor Coordinator
  • Digital Media Coordinator

### Qualifications

#### Education \& Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in fundraising or development
  • Proven track record of securing major gifts and growing donor pipelines
  • Experience with capital campaigns and grant management
  • Familiarity with affordable housing and mission\-driven organizations preferred

### Physical Demands

The role requires regular standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands. Occasional bending, lifting (up to 10 pounds), and travel may be required.
