About This Role

Who We Are

Outlook Advisory Group (OAG) provides Fractional COO services for law firms and is a trusted consulting partner to organizations across the legal sector. We deliver high\-level advisory services that drive performance, support sustainable growth, and elevate operational integrity. We operate in the space between small, founder\-led operations and law firms who have grown large enough to hire a full executive suite. Our typical clients are small\- to mid\-size law firms who are eager to add efficiency and scale with a commitment to doing things differently. Based in Charlotte, NC and serving clients virtually nationwide, we provide a tailored approach to each engagement, diving deep with law firm Owners/Founders/Managing Partners on strategic planning, business advisory, leadership development, process design and improvement, data and metrics, and discerning implementation of key initiatives. Our clients stay with us for the long\-term, typically 2\+ years, so it’s important to build unparalleled relationships and trust embedded in the client’s organization.

We are committed to taking the burden off the shoulders of law firm owners so they can reclaim their time and return to visionary, strategic work. Operating as true partners within our clients’ firms, we guide our client organizations to be the best they can be, bridging the gap between high\-level strategy, day\-to\-day operations, and complex technology and processes. OAG cuts through backend chaos to establish clear workflows, from software optimization to HR compliance. We are mission\-driven and operate with a high level of integrity and as trusted advisors. We are committed to results and to building a connected culture.

Who We Want

We are seeking a Fractional COO Consultant with a strong background in law firm/legal operations at the executive level, with knowledge of law firm\-specific processes, language, and liability prevention. Preferably, the COO Consultant has experience scaling a firm for growth and optimizing their operational playbook. Our ideal candidate is strategic, calm, discerning, motivational, fast\-paced, tech\-forward, and a trusted advisor with comfort interfacing with CEOs and Founders at an executive level.

This is a hands\-on role shaping approximately 4 to 7 law firms at a time via dedicated strategy and implementation, leveraging the firm’s internal resources as well as technology and excellent time management and prioritization. Being a fractional executive provides the opportunity to guide multiple organizations simultaneously. Our team is low\-ego and committed to constant learning and improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain excellent client communication and develop strong, trusting relationships with clients.
  • Positively represent our organization and brand with clients, in the community, and online.
  • Engage in regular strategy meetings, timely communications, team development, and project/implementation work for your clients to drive measurable results.
  • Dive deep on business planning and create/maintain strategic priorities and accountability in different areas of business.
  • Liaise with clients’ vendors and other fractional/consulting partners to drive overall business strategy.
  • Follow OAG’s systems model and dashboard portal for operational planning and management.
  • Be there for clients who need a listening ear or urgent guidance on pressing business decisions.
  • Connect deeply and become a part of the fabric of the firm’s leadership team.
  • Drive measurable results and improvement in client profit margin, process optimization, and accountability toward goals.
  • Manage a full client load of 4\-7 law firm clients with a monthly retainer revenue of up to $75k.
  • Track and enter time daily for client billable and other value\-add activities (most of our clients are on a monthly retainer, so this is to inform internal productivity metrics and related revenue incentives).
  • Attend 1\-2 monthly virtual roundtable events for existing and potential clients to discuss topics and trends in law firm operations.
  • Participate in light marketing initiatives such as blog topic planning, video Q\&A, and presentations in the industry.

Qualifications

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in Management, Operations, Accounting, Communications, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in law firm(s); with at least 2 in an executive leadership role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of different law firm practice areas, billing structures, and administrative setups.
  • Solution\-focused, and non\-judgmental approach to client work.
  • High level of professionalism, including while working remotely, with elevated business style of dress and polished presentation to clients, potential clients, and vendors.
  • Willingness to be an additional face of the brand and public ambassador.
