You are an experienced marketing leader and brand builder who understands how to turn great products into brands people recognize, trust, and actively seek out. You combine strategic thinking with hands\-on execution and know how to focus limited time and resources on the work that will have the greatest impact.

You are comfortable building a marketing function, establishing priorities, directing internal and external resources, and partnering across departments to move initiatives from concept through execution.

Position Summary

The Fractional Director of Brand \& Marketing will lead the strategy and execution of marketing initiatives across the company's portfolio of cannabis brands. Working approximately 15 hours per week and reporting to the CEO, this role will build the marketing function, establish priorities and processes, and partner across the organization to strengthen our brands and support business growth.

The position begins as a part\-time leadership role (approximately 15 hours per week) with the expectation that it will grow alongside the company. As our brands, product portfolio, and marketing initiatives expand, this role has the potential to evolve into a full\-time executive leadership position.

Our portfolio includes category\-leading in\-house brands such as DCC and Offbrand, alongside premier partner brands including DIME Industries and Pastime. This role will help shape the growth and market presence of each—building our in\-house brands into enduring consumer brands while collaborating closely with our partners’ marketing teams to maximize their success in the Massachusetts market.

From product launches and retail activations to packaging, apparel, promotional merchandise, displays, and marketing campaigns, the Director will work with internal teams and external resources to turn strong ideas into effective, measurable marketing.

Essential ResponsibilitiesMarketing Strategy \& Leadership

  • Develop and execute the company’s overall marketing strategy.
  • Establish clear marketing priorities based on company goals, available resources, and potential business impact.
  • Create annual and quarterly marketing plans aligned with growth objectives.
  • Build scalable marketing systems, processes, calendars, and reporting practices.
  • Advise executive leadership on brand positioning, market trends, consumer opportunities, and marketing investments.
  • Manage the marketing budget and recommend how resources should be allocated.

Brand \& Portfolio Leadership

  • Lead the continued development of the company’s in\-house products into differentiated consumer brands.
  • Define and maintain brand positioning, messaging, voice, identity, and standards across the portfolio.
  • Develop creative direction for campaigns, product launches, packaging, and promotional initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for product extensions, portfolio growth, and new brand development.
  • Ensure consistency across packaging, merchandising, marketing materials, and customer experiences.
  • Serve as the primary marketing liaison for partner brands, coordinating with their marketing teams to support success in Massachusetts.

Marketing Execution

  • Prioritize and oversee marketing initiatives across wholesale, digital, retail, field marketing, and events.
  • Develop go\-to\-market strategies for new products and product launches.
  • Direct the development of packaging, retail displays, point\-of\-sale materials, apparel, promotional merchandise, launch kits, educational materials, and sales collateral.
  • Collaborate with internal designers, production teams, vendors, agencies, photographers, and other creative partners.
  • Provide clear direction, timelines, and accountability for marketing projects.
  • Ensure marketing activities comply with applicable cannabis advertising and marketing requirements.

Sales \& Customer Support

  • Partner closely with Sales to support customer acquisition, retailer relationships, product launches, and field execution.
  • Develop trade marketing programs that strengthen retailer engagement and improve product sell\-through.
  • Create marketing tools and materials that help the Sales team effectively represent the company’s portfolio.
  • Support retailer education, product knowledge, and brand advocacy.
  • Use sales performance and customer feedback to inform marketing priorities.

Consumer, Digital \& Field Marketing

  • Oversee digital marketing efforts, including social media, email, website, SMS, and emerging channels.
  • Develop campaigns that increase consumer awareness, engagement, retention, and loyalty.
  • Guide field marketing, brand ambassador programs, events, trade shows, and consumer activations.
  • Build consistent consumer experiences across digital channels, retail environments, events, and promotional materials.
  • Develop authentic consumer communities around the company’s portfolio.

Analytics \& Business Performance

  • Establish practical marketing metrics and reporting systems.
  • Analyze campaign performance, sales trends, consumer insights, and competitive activity.
  • Measure the effectiveness and return on marketing investments.
  • Present performance updates and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Continuously refine marketing priorities based on results and business needs.

Department Growth

  • Assess the company’s long\-term marketing staffing and resource needs.
  • Recommend when work should be completed internally, outsourced, or supported by additional hires.
  • Help define and recruit future marketing positions as the department grows.
  • Build systems and processes that can support a larger internal marketing team.
  • Prepare the marketing function—and potentially this position—to scale as the company’s brands and revenue grow.

QualificationsRequired

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Progressive marketing experience, including at least three (3\) years leading brand or marketing initiatives within the cannabis industry.
  • Demonstrated success building and growing consumer brands.
  • Experience developing marketing strategies and translating them into effective execution.
  • Experience leading cross\-functional initiatives and managing internal and external resources.
  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize high\-impact work within an approximately 15\-hour\-per\-week schedule.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining close communication with executive leadership and internal partners.

Preferred

  • Experience serving in a fractional, consulting, or interim marketing leadership role.
  • Experience supporting wholesale brands and retail partners.
  • Experience managing multiple consumer brands or product portfolios.
  • Experience collaborating with external brand partners or licensors.
  • Background in consumer packaged goods, beverage, lifestyle, apparel, or similarly brand\-driven industries.
  • Experience building or scaling a marketing department.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel throughout Massachusetts for retail visits, meetings, events, and industry functions.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and transport marketing materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally work evenings or weekends when required for launches, events, or other business needs.

Pay: $40,000\.00 \- $50,000\.00 per year
