Fractional CTO | Green Orbit Ltd | Initially Equity Only | UK-Based

About Green Orbit

Green Orbit is a Welsh technology company developing SmartFitIQ, an AI-assisted measurement and fit-intelligence platform for workplace PPE and uniforms.

Our aim is simple: better fit, safer people and less waste. With Innovate UK support secured and university collaborations underway, we are looking for a hands-on technical leader to help take the platform through its next stage of development.

The opportunity

This is initially a part-time, equity-only role, with no salary or consultancy fees. Candidates must be UK-based and have the right to work in the UK.

The time commitment, equity allocation and vesting terms will be agreed transparently. Our intention is to move towards a paid, potentially full-time position as funding allows.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical architecture and development priorities for SmartFitIQ.
  • Lead and support our developers, coordinating delivery with university partners.
  • Guide mobile app development, including scanning and manual measurement pathways.
  • Strengthen measurement accuracy, platform reliability, security and scalability.
  • Assess and guide development of MotionFitIQ, our planned dynamic fit and movement assessment module.
  • Establish clear documentation, code ownership and development standards.
  • Support technical due diligence and explain our technology to potential investors and partners.

Qualifications and experience

  • Proven experience as a CTO, technical lead or senior software engineer, ideally within a startup.
  • A track record of building and launching reliable software products.
  • Strong knowledge of mobile applications, cloud architecture, APIs and data security.
  • Experience with AI, computer vision or digital measurement would be highly desirable.
  • Ability to lead a small development team while remaining hands-on.
  • Understanding of UK GDPR and privacy-conscious product development.
  • University collaboration or research commercialisation experience would be an advantage.

A relevant degree is welcome, but practical experience and delivery matter more than formal qualifications.

Who this would suit

Someone who wants meaningful ownership of a company’s technical direction, is comfortable working within an early-stage business and understands the commitment involved in an initially equity-only arrangement.

How to apply

Please message Nick Pocock directly on LinkedIn with a brief introduction, your relevant experience and your availability. Please confirm that you are UK-based, have the right to work in the UK and understand the initial equity-only terms.
