Position Description: Interim Executive Director
Status: Hourly, Non\-Exempt
Reports To: The Board of Directors
Position Summary
The Interim Executive Director will provide primary leadership and strategic direction during a period of organizational reflection and realignment. Working closely with the Board of Directors, staff, and key stakeholders, this leader will help clarify Crestfield’s vision, strengthen its financial and organizational health, and establish a clear framework for long\-term ministry impact.
Mission
Christ\-centered, Crestfield Camp and Conference Center is called to provide a sacred space to facilitate exploration and encounter with God’s hospitality, God’s creation, and the formative power of Jesus through energy, imagination, intelligence, and love.
Essential Responsibilities
1\. Vision \& Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead a comprehensive review and refinement of Crestfield’s mission, vision, and core values.
- Facilitate active dialogue and alignment among the Board of Directors, staff, alumni, donors, and broader ministry stakeholders.
- Translate strategic vision into clear, actionable priorities for the organization’s next chapter.
2\. Operational \& Financial Sustainability
- Evaluate Crestfield’s current financial position, budget structure, and revenue streams.
- Identify and recommend an optimal staffing structure designed to sustain and grow the ministry efficiently.
- Assess operational workflows and infrastructure to ensure fiscal responsibility and effectiveness.
3\. Development Strategy \& Growth
- Lead the Board in developing a comprehensive development and fundraising strategy.
- Identify opportunities for donor engagement, capital support, and alternative revenue streams.
- Prepare board leadership and stakeholders for long\-term financial health and future giving campaigns.
4\. Executive Leadership \& Staff Oversight
- Serve as Head of Staff, providing executive, operational, and spiritual leadership to all personnel.
- Foster a healthy, collaborative, and mission\-driven organizational culture.
- Manage high\-level executive decision\-making while keeping the Board regularly informed and engaged.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Executive Experience: Proven track record in executive, interim, or transitonal leadership within camp ministry, non\-profits, or faith\-based organizations.
- Strategic \& Financial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to analyze organizational budgets, optimize staffing models, and craft sustainable financial strategies.
- Development Leadership: Experience guiding boards and leadership teams through fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and strategic planning.
- Facilitation \& Communication: Outstanding interpersonal and group\-facilitation skills, with a track record of building consensus among diverse stakeholder groups.
- Spiritual Leadership: A vibrant personal faith and a strong passion for camp and retreat ministry.
Work Environment
This position will require some time on\-site, with complimentary overnight accommodations provided as needed, along with participation in previously scheduled meals while on\-site. While the position does not involve physical labor, the individual must be able to navigate camp property, which includes steep hills and uneven terrain.
Performance Expectations
Executive Leadership \& Head of Staff
- Team Health \& Performance: Provide consistent, supportive leadership to staff, ensuring clear weekly priorities despite the part\-time schedule.
- Fiscal Management: Maintain budget oversight, ensuring monthly financial reports are clear, accurate, and actionable for board decision\-making.
- Culture \& Communication: Maintain transparent, regular communication channels across staff, board leadership, Pittsburgh Presbytery, and the broader community.
Board Partnership
- Board Engagement: Partner with the Board Chair to set focused agendas for board meetings, maximizing the board's strategic impact without exceeding the 20\-hour cap.
- Accountability: Provide monthly or bi\-monthly progress tracking against these performance expectations.
Terms and Compensation
This position is initially for a six\-month period (Nov 1 – April 30th) and subject to review by the Board of Directors. There is the possibility of the position becoming full\-time, and selection as the Interim Executive Director will not preclude the individual from being considered for the permanent position.
Compensation and Terms of Call:
- 20 Hrs/Week
- $28 per hour (Minimum Hourly Rate)
- 4 Weeks (80 hrs.) Paid Vacation (Annually, pro\-rated to 2 weeks)
- 2 Weeks (40 hrs.) Paid Study Leave (Annually, pro\-rated to 1 week)
- Continuing Education Allowance: $2000 (Annually)
- Personal Expense Allowance: $2000 (Annually, pro\-rated to $1000\)
Pay: $2,250\.00 \- $2,560\.00 per month
