THE OPPORTUNITY:

Our client is a Los Angeles–based, content-driven entertainment organization seeking an Interim Director of FP&A to provide targeted analytical and execution support within its finance function. The organization has a well-established planning and governance framework in place; however, additional support is needed to enhance development cost tracking, improve financial visibility, and strengthen risk monitoring.

This role will focus on improving development-related financial analytics, supporting the implementation of new cost tracking tools, and producing clear, decision-ready reporting for leadership. In addition, the role will act as flexible capacity for special projects and ad hoc modeling needs that arise as the business evolves.

The position requires onsite presence three days per week in the Los Angeles area.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the implementation of a new development cost tracking solution in partnership with technology, legal, and business stakeholders.
  • Establish reporting and KPIs to identify areas of financial risk across both P&L and balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare P&L & cash flow forecasts related to development activities, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
  • Analyze development spend trends, highlight variances, and provide actionable insights to finance and operational leadership.
  • Support remediation & implementation of audit findings related to risk management & financial controls.
  • Develop analytical frameworks and report to improve visibility into cost drivers & exposure across projects.
  • Serve as overflow support for broader FP&A initiatives, including ad hoc modeling, scenario analysis, and strategic evaluations.
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure financial data, assumptions, and outputs are aligned & clearly communicated.
  • Provide timely & structured analysis to support leadership decision-making on emerging initiatives & priorities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required; MBA or CPA.
  • 7+ years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or related roles, including senior-level responsibilities.
  • Experience in content and media driven analysis highly preferred.
  • Strong experience with cost tracking, financial analysis, & forecasting in project-based environments.
  • Proven ability to design and implement reporting frameworks and KPIs that surface risk & performance trends.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, with the ability to build clear, flexible analytical models.
  • Comfortable partnering with non-finance stakeholders to translate complex financial concepts into practical insights.
  • Strong communication skills & executive presence, with the ability to deliver concise, decision-oriented outputs.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, creative environment with shifting priorities.
  • Availability to work onsite in the Los Angeles area three days per week.
  • Demonstrated ability to step into interim roles and add value quickly with minimal ramp time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80.00 - $95.00 per hour
