Location: Boulder, CO (Hybrid — Tues/Wed/Thurs in\-office; remote considered for exceptional AdTech/MarTech candidates)
Engagement Length: \~6 months
Target Start Date: Mid\-to\-late July
Compensation: $90\-95/hour (W2 or 1099\)
About the Opportunity

Our client, a growing AdTech company based in Boulder, CO, is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to provide critical coverage during a maternity leave transition. This is a hands\-on, execution\-focused role for someone who thrives on ownership and can step into an established process with minimal ramp\-up.
This is not a strategic CFO\-level position \- it's a "get it done" role for someone who wants to lead a lean, capable team and independently own the monthly close.
The Situation

The current Controller is transitioning out for a 16\-week leave, with the interim Controller assuming full responsibility by the end of July. The Interim Controller will lead a lean team consisting of a Staff Accountant and Contract Senior Accountant.
What You'll Do:
- Independently own the full close process: a 5\-day flash close (cash/AR/revenue) and a 9\-day full close
- Manage Revenue Recognition in a high\-volume transactional environment
- Oversee accounting for internally developed software assets
- Handle GL entries related to payroll
- Execute monthly/quarterly commission and bonus processes
- Lead and support a lean accounting team through a transition period
- Partner closely with the CFO on day\-to\-day accounting operations
What We're Looking For

Experience \& Technical Skills
- Background in AdTech, MarTech, or similar high\-volume transactional tech environments
- Strong technical accounting skills, particularly Revenue Recognition
- Proven ability to independently manage a close process from start to finish
- Experience with payroll\-related GL entries and commission/bonus cycles
Systems
- NetSuite required
- Experience with any of the following is a plus: Looker, FloQast, CaptivateIQ (commissions/bonuses — a big plus), Expensify, Tipalti, Spendflow, Concur
Soft Skills \& Culture Fit
- High personal agency — able to drive tasks to completion with minimal oversight
