### The Opportunity
We are seeking a meticulous Construction Project Controller to serve as our on\-site representative at an industrial plant in Cordova, IL. In this vital role, you will be the eyes and ears of the project team—monitoring contractor\-billed labor hours, equipment utilization, and material deliveries to ensure everything aligns perfectly with contractual agreements and project goals.
If you have a sharp eye for detail, thrive on a dynamic construction site, and love keeping projects organized and financially sound, this is the role for you.
### Key Responsibilities
As the Construction Project Controller, you will manage cost control, documentation, and compliance across several key areas:
- Cost \& Invoice Monitoring: Review invoices to verify correct labor rates (Straight Time \& Overtime) and accurate hours. Ensure indirect costs are classified correctly (not mixed into direct cost pools) and confirm all field\-directed work has an approved Change Order before invoicing.
- T\&M Verification \& Reporting: Enter timesheets, material logs, and equipment usage records into construction management spreadsheets. Issue comprehensive weekly summaries to the Project Manager.
- Gate Log Reconciliation: Cross\-reference physical gate logs to document and verify that on\-site labor perfectly matches billed hours.
- Equipment Oversight: Actively track on\-site machinery and identify any idle equipment (not in service or moved within 48 hours) for immediate return to control costs.
- Daily Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, up\-to\-date logs of daily project activities, including worker headcounts and material deliveries.
- Compliance \& Safety Monitoring: Assist the Construction Manager (CM) in verifying that all on\-site workers hold the required site\-specific safety certifications and licenses.
- Document Management: Systematically manage, track, and archive all project files, permits, and inspection reports.
### Qualifications \& Requirements
- Experience: Prior experience working on a construction jobsite or in a heavy industrial administrative role is highly preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong, advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are essential for spreadsheet management and data analysis.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational skills with a thorough, rigorous approach to quality\-checking labor records and building materials.
- Communication: Polished verbal and written communication skills, tailored for professional reporting to the Project Manager and interacting with site leadership.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; coursework in Construction Management is a major plus.
- Location: Must be local to the Cordova, IL area (per diem is *not* provided).
