Fractional CFO / Controller — Real Estate & Beauty Portfolio
About This Role
Marshell Group Inc. is seeking an experienced Fractional CFO / Controller to establish and manage the financial infrastructure for our holding company and affiliated entities. This is a hands\-on, operational finance role — not advisory only.
You will build systems, close books, manage compliance, and provide strategic financial guidance to the CEO directly.
Key Details:
- Location: Remote with periodic on\-site presence (Los Angeles, CA)
- Compensation: TBD — commensurate with experience
- Type: Contract / Fractional \| 15–20 hours/month
- 6\-month initial engagement with mutual renewal option
- Background check required
Scope of Services:
- Establish accounting systems and manage monthly financial close for all entities
- Payroll processing oversight for W\-2 employees and independent contractors
- Facilitate annual tax preparation and filing (federal and state) for all MG entities \+ CEO personal returns
- Provide financial analysis, investor reporting, and capital deployment tracking
- Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial models for existing and new locations
- Support SBA lending relationships and bank covenant compliance
Requirements:
- CPA license (active, in good standing) or equivalent professional certification
- 7\+ years in financial management, controllership, or CFO roles
- Multi\-entity corporate structures and consolidated financial reporting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax compliance, and payroll regulations
- Experience with real estate, property management, or construction finance
- Proficiency with QuickBooks, Xero, or similar accounting platforms

Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes to support strategic objectives.
- Oversee corporate accounting functions, ensuring adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), and other relevant regulations.
- Manage risk analysis and develop mitigation strategies, including compliance with SOX (Sarbanes\-Oxley Act) controls and COSO (Committee of Sponsoring Organizations) frameworks.
- Supervise treasury management activities such as cash flow optimization, expense control, and supply chain finance.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis for profit \& loss statements, revenue cycle management, and cost control initiatives to maximize profitability.
- Support mergers \& acquisitions by performing due diligence, valuation modeling, and integration planning.
- Prepare clear, comprehensive financial reports for senior leadership and external stakeholders; interpret complex financial data for strategic decision\-making.
- Ensure regulatory reporting compliance across all entities while maintaining rigorous internal controls.
- Lead efforts in business development by analyzing market trends, conducting market analysis, and identifying growth opportunities within the portfolio.
- Supervise accounting teams responsible for payroll management, cost accounting, tax accounting, and technical accounting functions such as ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) and IFRS standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in senior financial management roles with a focus on real estate or beauty industries preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of corporate finance principles including budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and fiscal management.
- Strong understanding of financial software systems and tools used for financial modeling, analysis, and reporting.
- Demonstrated expertise in SOX compliance, GAAP/IFRS standards, governmental accounting, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Skilled in negotiation, business development strategies, and strategic planning with a focus on revenue growth.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial concepts and produce actionable insights.
- Supervisory experience managing finance teams across multiple functions such as payroll management, cost control, and supply chain finance.
- Effective communicator with strong leadership qualities capable of collaborating with senior leadership and guiding cross\-functional teams.
- Technical proficiency in financial concepts like profit \& loss analysis, expense management, risk assessment, and cost control measures.
