Executive Director – The Hyacinth Fellowship
Location: Remote (U.S.\-based)
Reports to: Board of Directors
Status: Part\-Time Contract Employee (approx. 15 hours per week)
Compensation: $25,000 annual
About the Organization
The Hyacinth Fellowship is the only organization worldwide dedicated to supporting individuals who have unintentionally killed or seriously injured others. We offer peer support, education, outreach, and community\-building. We help people heal, grow, and find purpose. Our programs include monthly fellowship meetings, an expressive writing group, a book club group, peer support, webinars, in\-person gatherings, and collaborations with mental health professionals and researchers.
Position Summary
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of The Hyacinth Fellowship, responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational management, and board partnership to achieve the organization’s mission and strategic objectives. The ED will work closely with the Board of Directors and volunteers to advance the Fellowship’s mission and expand its reach and impact. The ED will also serve as a spokesperson for the Fellowship.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership \& Governance
- Partner with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plans
- Help to steer volunteer support from the Board of Directors and other volunteers
- Ensure organizational compliance with legal, financial, and reporting requirements
Operations \& Program Oversight
- Oversee and execute weekly administrative and programmatic functions
- Manage quarterly budgets and financial reporting, coordinating with bookkeepers/accountants as needed
- Oversee quarterly maintenance of website, coordinating with contractors as needed
Fundraising \& Development
- Assist in overseeing regular fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation, partnership development, or grant writing
- Identify funding opportunities
Communications \& Community Engagement
- Oversee responses to e\-mail and phone inquiries
- Oversee monthly newsletters to members
- Oversee management of social media accounts
- Act as a spokesperson and ambassador for the organization
Qualifications
Required
- Proven leadership experience in non\-profit or mission\-driven organizations
- Strong strategic thinking and organizational management skills
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal ability
- Self\-starter comfortable working independently with minimal administrative support
- Deep empathy and understanding of the Fellowship’s mission
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Preferred
- Experience growing small nonprofits or start\-up organizations
- Demonstrated success in fundraising
- Familiarity with peer support models
- Familiarity with trauma\-informed care
- Lived experience with unintentional harm
Job Type: Part\-time
Pay: $22,000\.00 \- $25,000\.00 per year
Expected hours: 15 per week
