Executive Director

The Executive Director will be responsible for leading organizational operations, overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of all programs and services offered by R.I.S.E. Northwest, and serving as the face of the organization. This is a versatile role, offering the opportunity to continue growing an organization and making your mark as we expand services and our reach in the greater Spokane community. The ideal candidate is comfortable wearing many hats, possesses strong organizational skills and interpersonal abilities, and has a deep commitment to supporting children, teens, and young adults who are coping with grief following the loss of a parent.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Continually seek opportunities to connect with the community and raise awareness about RISE Northwest.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including schools, community organizations, and mental health professionals.
  • Collaborate with external partners to expand program reach, raise awareness, and enhance program offerings.
  • Represent RISE Northwest at community events, conferences, and meetings to promote the organization’s mission and impact.
  • Help support marketing efforts by capturing photos of special events, producing social media content and occasionally newsletters or blogs.
  • Lead and continually refine strategic planning initiatives for the organization.
  • Collaborate with the Board to identify and prioritize program initiatives, ensuring they meet the needs of grieving children and teens.
  • Oversee the effective delivery of existing programs and educational resources, as well as grant applications and reporting, led by the Senior Director of Program Strategy and Director of Program Development.
  • Lead recruitment efforts for participants for all programs.
  • Develop and implement aftercare support services for families who have previously participated in Team RISE.
  • Provide warm introductions to all potential new families, ensuring a thorough understanding of the program and all information listed in the Parent/Guardian and Participant Agreement.
  • Provide ongoing support and supervision to staff members; conduct annual performance evaluations for all staff.
  • Maintain and refine ratios for volunteers to participants for Team RISE, ensuring adequate volunteer coverage for each programming session.
  • Maintain compliance with all required background checks and trainings for staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing for paid staff members.
  • Provide financial records to accountant, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance.
  • Oversee and coordinate compliance with federal and state regulations with accountant.
  • Assist with board recruitment, onboarding, and training of board members to enhance their engagement and effectiveness.
  • Support the Board in day\-to\-day operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, leadership, or other related fields. Professional experience may substitute for educational requirements.
  • Proficiency in communication and leadership.
  • Technologically savvy.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage various competing tasks.
  • Comfortable speaking to wide\-ranging audiences regarding grief and soliciting donations for the organization.
  • Adept at leading and operating in ambiguity.
  • Proven success with fundraising efforts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership experience, especially in start\-up environments.
  • Experience in turning organizational challenges into opportunities that contribute to the growth of organizations.
  • Professional experience wearing many “hats” for an organization.

Work environment. This position requires up to 25 hours per week. Hybrid working environment, with flexible working hours. Reduced summer schedule may be negotiated.

Salary: $25\-$35 per hour for up to 25 hours per week
