As a CAAS Senior Manager for the Fractional Accounting & Advisory Services group, you will play a critical role overseeing and growing a defined market within the firm’s Fractional Accounting and Advisory practice. This leader will manage a team responsible for delivering high-quality outsourced accounting, controller, and CFO advisory services, while actively engaging in business development, market presence, and client service delivery. The Senior Manager will have significant responsibility in talent development, market growth, practice performance, and ensuring service offerings stay aligned with market needs.

The day-to-day responsibilities of a Senior Manager for the Fractional Accounting & Advisory Services group will vary significantly depending upon a client’s size, needs and project scope.

Responsibilities:

Team & Market Leadership

  • Lead and manage a team within the assigned market, providing direction, coaching, and performance management.
  • Conduct regular check-ins, performance evaluations, and professional development planning.
  • Support recruiting efforts by identifying talent needs, participating in interviews, and onboarding new team members.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-accountability culture that emphasizes quality, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure team workload is balanced and aligns with deadlines, client expectations, and performance goals.

Business Development & Market Growth

  • Build and sustain a strong market presence through networking, community involvement, and participation in strategic local events.
  • Develop and execute a prospecting strategy to grow the client base within the assigned market.
  • Partner with the firm’s business development and marketing teams to identify and pursue new opportunities.
  • Cultivate referral sources and maintain relationships with COIs (bankers, attorneys, financial advisors, etc.).
  • Deliver presentations, webinars, and thought leadership to position the practice as a trusted expert in fractional accounting and advisory services.

Client Service & Practice Delivery

  • Manage a personal book of client work, delivering high-quality outsourced accounting, controller or CFO services, and operational consulting.
  • Serve as a primary advisor to clients, providing strategic guidance, insights, and proactive recommendations.
  • Review deliverables prepared by team members to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to firm standards.
  • Assist with onboarding new clients, establishing workflows, determining resource needs, and setting expectations.
  • Maintain strong client relationships that promote retention, expansion, and client satisfaction.

Marketing & Subject Matter Presence

  • Collaborate with in-house marketing to ensure a consistent flow of content highlighting services, expertise, and market trends.
  • Leverage social media platforms (LinkedIn, firm channels, personal brand) to share insights, celebrate team achievements, and remain visible in the market.
  • Identify opportunities to create relevant content—articles, posts, videos, webinars, case studies—to enhance firm visibility.
  • Partner with marketing to develop targeted campaigns that strengthen brand awareness within the assigned market.

Financial & Operational Oversight

  • Monitor and manage market-level performance metrics, including utilization, realization, team capacity, and profitability.
  • Review KPIs regularly and take proactive action to ensure performance targets are met or exceeded.
  • Collaborate with the Director of the service line to align service delivery, pricing, and processes with market demands.
  • Provide input on service enhancements or new offerings based on client needs and market trends.
  • Ensure workflows and processes are efficient, scalable, and consistent across the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • Relevant work experience such as: 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting, advisory, or outsourced service environments.
  • Prior leadership experience managing teams and balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, accounting operations, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow a market, develop business, and build professional networks
  • Proven capabilities as it relates to: Strategic thinking with strong business acumen, leadership and talent development, client relationship management, market awareness and growth orientation, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a high level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Ability to: work in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, while interacting with all levels inside and outside the organization, taking initiative, anticipating problems and formulating resolutions, exercising good judgment/decision making, prioritizing and multi-tasking, working independently, etc.
